The days are shrinking substantially now, and everything is quietly slowing down. These days I am enjoying the dahlias around the farm still, but I have to admit some of my favorite flowers of the season are just blooming. The Chrysanthemum!! They are not unlike dahlias in that there are so very many varieties and colors, and they are not known to be especially fragrant, but they are showstoppers. I think they enjoy letting the rest of the garden know that it is time to slow, start setting seeds and orchestrate the changing and falling of the leaves! We planted several dozen heirloom varieties this spring and are enjoying quiet the show this fall. They always let me know that it is time to get the bulbs in the ground when they begin blooming. So, we have been busy getting tulips, alliums, hyacinths

in the ground this past week and still have a week or two to go! Happy Fall, hope you get to enjoy some mum's and plant some bulbs!
